Trainradar24 Pilots Real-Time Driver Warnings at Railway Crossings
June 1, 2024 | Trainradar24 / Trenify P.S.A.
Trainradar24 has launched a pilot of an innovative system that warns drivers in real time about approaching trains at railway crossings. This is the first such solution tested in Poland at the scale of a mobile application.
How the Pilot Works
The system uses real-time train movement data and enables:
- Detection that a driver is approaching a railway crossing
- Checking whether a train will pass that crossing in the next few minutes
- Displaying a warning with the time remaining until the train's arrival
The warning appears early enough for the driver to decide whether to stop or continue driving – before reaching the hazard zone.
Why This Matters
According to the Trenify Foundation report (2026), the key safety gap at crossings is the lack of integration between rail data and vehicle navigation systems. Trainradar24, as a platform that already aggregates this data, is uniquely positioned to fill this gap.
Synergy with Existing Features
The driver warning system uses the same data infrastructure that today powers passenger push notifications. This synergy reduces deployment costs and allows faster scaling across the rail network. The Leo Express partnership, established in February 2025, opened access to data from the first of many operators.
